Vitamin D sun calendar
Your skin makes vitamin D with the sun's UV light. This calendar shows how much of that UV light reaches the ground in each month, measured by satellite. Choose a place and compare the months.
Loading the data
The data for this calendar could not be loaded. Please try again later.
Each bar shows the average daily UV dose for vitamin D, compared with the strongest month (100%).
Show as a table
Since 1 January 2026 the cloud data comes from new satellites (MTG). The values for 2026 may therefore differ slightly from earlier years.
How to read this
The bars do not show how much vitamin D you make. That depends on your skin, how much skin is uncovered, the time of day and how long you are outside. They show how much of this UV light reaches the ground, compared with the strongest month.
Official recommendation
These amounts come from the health authority named below.
- For adults, the Panel sets an AI for vitamin D at 15 μg/day.
